How hands-on?

I’ve often joined teams as the first marketing hire and had to build marketing capabilities from scratch. That means I’ve had to do the work prior to building the team. I create strategic plans, write content, conceive and run outbound demand gen campaigns, write messaging documents, train sales, build websites or optimize them for search engines, integrate marketing automation and CRM systems, initiate partner relationships … whatever it takes to grow the business.

I’ve worked with a variety of technologies, including numerous first-of-a-kind products. I have expertise in SaaS, data analytics/integration, cybersecurity, healthcare, AI, and more.

Some recent accomplishments

 

Demand generation

  • Created demand generation engines that increased sales 50-160% annually.

  • Hired a business development team and implemented an account-based marketing approach. This built $18 M/quarter in qualified pipeline essentially from zero in 3 months.

 

Go-to-market

  • Created and implemented the strategy to enter a new market against heavy competition and become an industry leader (three times).

  • Created programs to recruit and engage with new partners (SaaS and Salesforce).

 

Product marketing

  • Initiated an analyst relations program that caused Gartner to add a new category (twice).

  • Initiated customer review programs at G2 and KLAS that improved our position to leadership status.

  • Turned case studies into a strategic briefing series that increased sales activity at CIO-level by 1,000%.

 

Brand building

  • Launched analyst relations programs that secured us Leader status in Forrester Wave and ultimately attracted a strategic buyer.

  • Created customer advocacy program that established us as leader and category creator in customer and analyst eyes.
